Anna Odell, Harp

Anna Odell currently attends the renowned Curtis Institute of Music for the Artist Diploma program. She studies with Elizabeth Hainen, Principal Harpist of the Philadelphia Orchestra. In 2012, Anna Odell received her Bachelor of Music in Harp Performance from the University of Toronto. During her time in Toronto, Anna studied with the renowned harpist Judy Loman, former Principal Harpist of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.

Anna has extensive orchestral and ensemble experience. She has held the position of Principal Harp in the University of Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the American Youth Philharmonic, and the All‐State Virginia Honors Orchestra. Furthermore, Anna has been selected to participate in several programs sponsored by the National Symphony Orchestra, including the prestigious Summer Music Institute, the Young Associates Program, and Youth Orchestra Day with Leonard Slatkin. Anna has been featured in the World Premieres of new works such as The Hera Suite, Classical Native: North American Indian Cello Project, and Child of Earth. In 2009, Anna also performed in the New Music Festival in Toronto, Ontario. Anna has attended the Aspen Music Festival, the Saratoga Harp Colony, and the Young Artists’ Harp Seminar.

 

Anna is an accomplished soloist known for her musicality and sensitive playing. In 2010 , Anna studied opera in Florence, Italy with the Bel Canto Institute. She received the Woodstock Award and was invited to play a recital in Woodstock, NY in April 2011. Furthermore, Anna has performed with mezzo soprano Jennifer Larmore under the baton of Norman Scribner at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Anna has also been featured as a soloist in numerous concerti, including Handel's Concerto in B‐Flat, Debussy's Dances sacred and profane, and Ravel's Introduction and Allegro.
